Experimental Trading

Apart from betting (with management :) ) I also trade in betfair, and tennis is a good sport to trade cause of the swing of prices. Anyway anyone knows about this but an idea that I have recently is this. In a game sometimes a player is winning and suddenly some mistake happens and he is losing, and from odds of around 1.2 the odds go to 2... and if he loses a set odds go completely different way. so my experimental trading is this.

Find games which I think there will be swing of price and lay both sides at odds less than 2, when the game starts I am putting the following bets and see what happens.

For tomorrow I will try with low stakes the following.

12 from 14 on tennis

Another good day in selections today in tennis and with level stake points there was a tiny profit of 0.7 points. I read quite a number of ebooks about betting and 1 important thing I read is that profitable betting consists of 2 main things.
1 Selection 50% importance and
2. Stake plan 50% importance.

Having good selections with a wrong stake plan can not be profitable. In tennis at the moment, I am having good selections 28 from 34 (around 82% strike rate) but i am still uncertain which is the best staking plan. Personally I am using fixed liability at 7.5% for each game and this shown to be quite successfull with these selections. So far I would have done around 30 points from a 100 point bank. Also what i am doing is that I am not compounding my profits and leave them aside in case of a bad day. Using 10% liability the profit is fantastic, but its probably too risky and a bad day could hurt. Let's continue this journey and try to find the best staking plan.

16 from 20 in round 1 Roland Garros

Got 16 out of 20 games in the First round of the French open, and on games only, there where not included set bettings. with the usual stake plan 5.2 points profit where achieve and different profits where achieved with different fixed stake liabilities. using a 10% risk liability stake a profit of 34 points would have been achieved, but could be too risky, will continue taking notes and see results at the end of the tournament. hopefully with other good results. good day in soccer also.

Not Good Enough..... Back or Lay ?

Its frustrating when you get 11 out of 13 results and still do not make a profit, I am referring to my soccer picks of today. One factor is that I am using betfair (betting exchange) and in my selection i am opposing the underdogs. in betfair the odds of underdogs usually are of higher value than there real value and I think on the long run this could effect the long term profits. so keeping in mind this I had in mind other alternatives. These are the following.

If you notice my soccer pics today out of 13, 10 of them won 1 draw and 2 losses, so what if I back my selections instead of Laying them. I am sure i would have made a profit rather than a small loss, The reason behind it is that odd are higher on betfair, and this could work in our favour.

Another alternative would be to use a fixed liability staking plan, meaning I bet as a lay bet a percentage of the bank (say 2% - 5%). if my selection losses the I lose 2%-5% depending which figure i choose then if I win I win depending on the odds. Obviously the lower the odds the more profit. I will try to implement the fixed liability staking for my past selections and for my next ones and compare. Also for next week I will record the back prices for my soccer selections and again compare results.

Bad day

some bad losses in soccer and tennis today, had to happen some time. All systems suffer losses, the most important is that they are manageable and that 1 bad day should not influence a run of good days. Betting is a risky business , thats why discipline and management are important. I am working on another staking plan so that in day like this the bank is not so much affected. Pointing system with Real Money

Hi everyone, today we had a loss in tennis, and unfortunately it was the highest one in odds and this made no profits in tennis, football so far had a loss also but there are 2 bets to go for tonights champions league. Today i did not post any selections on horse racing the reason being is that horse racing tips, differently from tennis and soccer need continues m0nitoring and the prices are published by the bookies around 11 or noon, therefore, its was becoming difficult for me to continue monitoring prices and liquidity at work time so I am pausing on horse racing. This also means to give more efforts to tennis ,soccer and other sports. todays loss in tennis for example could have been avoid if more analysis was done. Venus Williams is a good player but she is out of form, which is an important factor. Also some losses are acceptable once in a while.

Different people bet different amounts thats why the pointing system is the best to count the success/failure of systems. Using a 100 point systems, the blog(excluding today, since not all games are finished and excluding horse racing) has made around 38 points and starting with 1000 euros now they would have became 1432. please have a look below.

Time of post

Some readers of the blog ask me what time do i post my picks for the day, The answer is that there is no definate answer but usually all post are done by 2 30 p.m. Also usually there is an update in the evening for football mathches. My main picks are based on tennis, football and horse racing. Usually tennis mathches are done during the day, so by 11:00 a.m the tennis picks usually are posted. Horse racing in the UK starts around 15:00 so around 14:00 my picks for the day should be there and usually soccer starts after 18:00 so all soccer will be posted before that time.

Exceptions. sometime I am watching news or reading pre games preview and i could post an extra bet. so keep tuned. Best thing to do is to check blog around 11, around 2 30 and around 6 and you should miss nothing.

After gathering all the results for week 2 I had the following results.

I also calculated results in a point system.
For football and tennis i calculated each win will give 1 point no matter what the odds and each loss will give depending on the value of the odd ex if i layed at 3.4 and result lost then i have a 2.4 points loss.

For horse racing since i am backing not lay i am using a 100 point bank and use 10 points for each bet. so if i lose i lose 10 points no matter what the odds and if i win i win according to the odds. ex if the odds where 1.24 and the horse places then i win 2.4 points.

another good today within my average so far with just 1 loser out of 11 selections. The lose came in tennis between the game Youzhny and Mayer where Youzhny lost the last set to a tie break 7-5. Mayer had the home side on his side, so could be a plus factor on his side. 100% in soccer where there where only 2 bets , and 100% in horse racing where we had a good winner at 1.42. Good day today with just 1 loser in horse racing out of 14 picks. with this rate there will be no problem to keep an overall 90% strike rate :) too early for judgements. Also about my selections, my strategy is to find valueable bets to lay between odds from 3 and above on betfair, to keep a low risk high strike rate, In the beginning of my blog I was posting tennis picks out of this range so I will delete them from my overall record. My tennis record will count from yesterday onwards where i started apply this low risk high strike rate strategy. There will be no more other changes for the time being and hopefully will continue with this good strike rate.

7 out of 7 in soccer, good results so far, only 1 loss in this first week, on the other sports tennis and formula 1 2 out of 2 today, and 3 out of 4 winners in horse racing( which is not my aim) in horse racing my target is at least 90% strike rate, For the following days I will continue posting only the tips, later I will introduce my staking plan. my target is to have a strike rate above or around 90%.
